The backboard of the bed is adorned with charred larch wood, which you can also find in some other places in the hotel. The special feature: the applied yakisugi technique. This is a traditional Japanese method of wood finishing, in which the top layer is charred to bring out the natural grain of the wood while making the material more resilient.
